NACHI's Leader threatens to kill ex-member.

Rob Zimmerman wrote:

As of this point Nick's comments stated in a members only area 'he shouldn't just be booted, he should be killed' is now being taken seriously by me and my family.

Nick Gromiko the owner of the National Association of Home Inspectors has threatened my life and the livelihood of my family. He has posted to over 5000 members he believes I should be killed. Nick has untold funds at his resources. He has shown to be easily excitable and quick to react.

My wife looking over my shoulder reading about Nick's comments is issuably shaken. Neither her nor I believe Nick was anything other than serious in his threat. Nick Gromiko has over stepped the line.

I will be contacting legal assistance as soon as possible. Any wishing to assist me in this please email be at rob@rzinspections.com or rzinspections@earthlink.net.

This is serious. Nick made a very public threat on my life. There was and is no justification for his threat.

Anyone able to copy the thread and email to me at one of the above accounts will not be mentioned.

Interesting. I guess that how they do things in the U.S.

You seem to be in breach of the Cafe Rules.

c) OAHI Membership Forums shall not be used to libel, slander, defame
or disparage a member or candidate of OAHI or any other person,
company or organization.

e) Posts advertising or promoting any product or service or inspector membership other than OAHI directly or indirectly, are not permitted on the OAHI Forums, and will be removed promptly. ( CAHPI, ASHIdiscussions are excluded from this rule) ?

I think under the circumstances the forum rules have been breached. What is going to be done about this? I think under the circumstances the whole thread should be deleted.

Why do you care if this info is posted on a private forum? I personally think it's important that our members know that the leader of a U.S. home inspection association trying to move into Ontario is threatening to murder people. That should be valuable news to anyone considering joining this foreign association.

If you don't mind, can you stop taking private forum posts from this site and placing them on NACHI's public forum. There is a reason this site is password protected and frankly, you should know better.

Dave

Firstly there is the matter of telling the truth not just one side as you reported. I thought perhaps in your role as Editor of the Canadian Home Inspector Magazine you would know how to report ethically and the full story. You have chosen to report only one small piece of the total story. Nor did you take the time to post Mr. Gromickos side. This is contrary to the forum rules of which you seem to be thumbing your nose at. This could be considered slander on your part, a clear violation of the Cafe rules. Why? Because you seem to have historically stated your feelings of dislike for Nachi or anything else that rubs you the wrong way. When you post a discussion that has been posted on the Canuck list to the Nahci list, you have no problem breaking your own rules you want everyone else to live up to. That sure sounds myopic and hypocritical to me.

Now as long as you want to post misinformation and lies, and turn and spin them a different way I will not succumb to your double standards and outright lies. There are members in Oahi that are members of Nachi. Your actions are insulting and unwarranted. Your excuses are also irrelevent and without cause.

The members who now read this post should know the following which you have been negligent once again to point out. Mr. Zimmerman has stated the following since you took the post and posted it here.

Sorry for the delay in posting. I did remove my posts. This was my choice and not as a result of any request.

I apologize to the NACHI membership. My intent was originally to inform members of an issue I researched and the results of that research. Unfortunately certain reactions affected me emotionally. Although I thought I was responding in a controlled manner, upon review I did not always properly do that. This was the reason for my deleting the posts. My emotions are there but taking time from the board and sleep has allowed for clearer thought.

Raymond,
Just to be clear. I have not retracted the fact I did nothing wrong or violated an NACHI rules.

I did remove the posts as I felt they were leaning to the emotional side and that was beneath me and the members.

Not upset just clarifying a little icon_smile.gif

So as any astute person can read the entire matter has been overstated, and you are aware of this as you seem to be a frequent poster on the Nachi site. So with that in mind you seem uncapable nor willing to follow up with the correct facts! Your actions and your breach of the CAFE rules are inconcievable. Now, before you go pontificating any further I think the best piece of advice you could do if you do not want emails forwarded or reposted that seem to get your shorts in a knot is to stop making stupid, unwarranted, malicious lies, and rumours for your ill will.

And no I will not stop posting your posts from anywhere if there are not truthful and there is more to the story then you continually portray. You seem to have many hang ups and complaints but you continually refuse to deal with these complaints by proper means by filing your complaints with the DPPC. I am also concerned with you and Mr. Mullens continually stating on the Canuck Forum that I am derailing the National Initative. You once again make speculative remarks never backed up by hard evidence or corroborating evidence. Since when is asking legitimate questions derailing in nature. You must get over your deep seated animosities, and hatreds that you and Mr. Mullens seem to have for me. When you are willing to state facutually your claims that I am derailing anything. I am willing to look at the evidence. Until such time I think you and Mr. Mullens need to cool your jets and your comments on the Canuck list, which is not so private.

Does anyone else hear an obnoxious noise in here or is it just my poor hearing?

Mr. Wands: Until you start getting some facts straight; until you quit pretending that your suppositions are gospel truth; and until you quit trying to cause trouble for CAHPI and CAHPI Ontario and all other legitimate Canadian Home Inspectors, I shall be ignoring your messages. Any person who would excuse another who has made two death threats in a week cannot and should not be heeded. Rant all you like. Nobody's listening. I for one will waste no more time on the likes of you and your bumbling old buddy.

I apologize to the membership in Ontario for providing any legitimacy or relevance to these two people who have shamelessly wasted so much of our valuable time and money and then bragged about it.

Mr. Mullen,

Once again you have provided no substantiating reference to prove that I am derailing things or any of your other boastful statements - as usual you are all air.

Please show some leadership skills for once instead of dictating as if you were God. You never offer substance, but you sure know how to deliver the BS. And for the record I did condemn the threats, I made that quite clear in my post on the Nachi list. You seem to have overlooked that too! So once again you have been caught in a fib and twisted the facts! Those are really some leadership skills. Here is a link for those who want the truth.
http://www.nachi.org/bbsystem/viewtopic.php?t=12205 (three quarters of the way down the page)

Here are some questions that I am sure everyone would like answered. These questions were asked of you three times now, and you never did answer. The funny thing is these questions were a result of what you stated on the Nachi forum. When I turned the info around and applied the info in the form of a question you went off the deep end and claimed I was derailing, complaining, and everything else you could muster in the way of a diatribe but you never did answer the questions.

One of the spokespersons for the National has stated that CAHPI will be administering the certification process for the National Initiative. Decisions on who will be eligible for certification at whichever level will be made by either National "Certification Council" or Provincial “Certification Council(s)." These "Councils" will supposedly be at arms length from CAHPI, and its provincial associations and will be made up of people both inside and outside the industry. (Educators, realtors, insurers, lawyers, and others familiar with the certification process) Although CAHPI is the overseeing body, it will not be able to reject anyone who is recommended for certification by the independent "Council", so it appears.

The questions are:

1.) How are educators, realtors, insurers, lawyers, and others
suppose to be familiar with the certification process?

2.) What qualifications are they required to bring to the table to be part of certification process/certifying Council?

3.) These people are lay peoples in the sense that they do not know our business, why are lawyers, insurers and particularly Realtors overseeing any type of Home Inspector certification?

4.) Who certifies the members of the certifying Council?

5.) Why is inspector certification not being held solely within the home inspection industry, considering that we are aiming toward self-regulation?

6.) How can grandfathering be avoided, even though we have been told there will be no grandfathering?

7.) Will those in OAHI in the lower ranks and I assume RHI be subject to this same review?

8.) Where are the resources and finances going to come from to fund the implementation of is endeavor?

Many questions so few answers. :(

Does your name begin with 'R' and end in 'y' ? If not, you are not one of the two.
